  • On June 30, 2017 in Albuquerque New Mexico west of Interstate 40, state police said a man and woman were found dead inside a vehicle and had been shot in the head. They said the dead man in the driver’s seat of the pickup had a handgun between his legs. Police said the names were being withheld until their identities are confirmed and

  • On June 28, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a shooting left one person dead according to Albuquerque Police Department spokesman. Police went to the area after receiving a call about a person possibly shot in the face. One individual was deceased and another individual was transported to the hospital.   • On June 28, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Morgan Quarles III, age 22, and Gabriel Mariscal, age 30, arrived at a house and pushed their way inside. Mariscal pulled out a gun and demanded keys from the woman and followed the man who lived there into a bedroom. Witnesses told police there were signs of a struggle in the bedroom followed
    by gunfire. Mariscal shot the woman who died at the scene. The wounded man was in critical condition. Mariscal was arrested after a SWAT standoff. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On June 23, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, two months after a man’s body was found in the East Mountains, detectives arrested an Albuquerque couple connected to his death. Terry Williams, age 56, was reported missing on April 26, 2017. It is believed that Craig Smith, age 54, and his girlfriend, Evanne Jaramillo, age 39, shot Williams because the bullets in his body matched bullets that were found in Smith’s truck.   • On June 19, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at least one FBI agent was involved in a shooting in Albuquerque during an operation according to an FBI spokesman. FBI agents reported no life-threatening injuries. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On June 16, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, officers investigated a homicide after Daniel Kraves, age 27, was shot and killed. Another man was transported to University of New Mexico hospital in critical condition. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On June 2, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Anthony Kapinski, age 24, was taken into custody in connection with the shooting deaths of 21 year-old, Jordan Mucher and 22 year-old Paul Francia. Officers had heard shots fired and saw vehicles speeding away. Officers found one person dead and another critically wounded who died later.   • On May 30, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police are investigating a possible shooting. Neighbors heard gunshots and saw a large truck take off at full speed. They saw a man on the ground.   • On May 29, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Joseph Garcia, age 57, was shot by his son, Carlos Velasquez during an argument. He was transported to a local hospital and later died there.   • On May 27, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matthew Severinghaus, 25 years old, was on his way to work and was shot and killed in front of his house, which he shared with his brother and mother. At this time there are no suspects known or in custody. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On May 19, 2107 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Josephina Ortega, 86 years old, was found dead in her home. Police suspect that someone may have killed the great-grandmother who had lived in the house for 45 years. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On May 19, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, officers are investigating a homicide after a man was shot and later died of his injuries at the University of New Mexico hospital.   • On May 16, 21017 in Albuquerque New Mexico, Shawn Torrez, age 39, shot and damaged the Albuquerque Police Department’s SWAT team robot while officers were trying to arrest him on a felony warrant.   • On May 15, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Carlos Proffit was arrested for holding a family at gunpoint because he believed they had shot and killed a federally protected bird.   • On May 8, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man who said he went to a hotel to sell speakers to someone was instead tied up and shot according to a spokesman from the Albuquerque police department.   • On May 4, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police reported that one man was taken to the hospital following a shooting incident. Officers arrived at the scene after they received a call from a man who said he had been shot. Police said the man had several gunshot wounds.   • On April 24, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a federal jury convicted Trevor Lee Thayer, 46 years of Silver City, of violating the federal firearms and narcotics trafficking laws, including manufacturing silencers.   • On April 17, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mindy Stuart, age 30, was shot and killed by Scott Wade Bachicha, age 32. Bachicha was her boyfriend. Police had been called to the house many times. Four police reports and criminal complaints detail allegations of several instances of domestic violence dating back to 2011.   • On March 26, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 59 year-old Earl Roybal was shot and killed at a car wash. Friends say he was on his motorcycle with his girlfriend when he stopped at a car wash to clean his Harley-Davidson.   • On March 22, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Robert Billie, age 38, was arrested and charged with 71 counts of armed robbery and 37 counts of conspiracy. The alleged series of crimes ended after detectives surveilling Billie watched him rob a Jack-in- the-Box. He then drove to a motel where police surrounded his room and ordered Billie and his wife to come out. Billie came out, pointed a gun at the police officers, got into his vehicle and fled.   • On March 15, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Aurra Gardner, age 16, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She had been a straight “A” honors student in her sophomore year at Eldorado High School. She was an accomplished cello player in the school orchestra. She had recently become anxious and stressed.   • On March 13, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 32–year-old Ricardo Ruiz was shot and killed. The shooting took place in the parking lot of a Burger restaurant where the victim often went. It was only a few blocks from his homes. Albuquerque police have not made any arrests in the case but the shooting is being investigated as a homicide. SOURCE: KOB4 NEWS
  • On February 10, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police shot a man who attempted a carjacking at gunpoint in front of officers. Albuquerque police spokesman said a bonding company that was serving arrest warrants on a suspect called police for help after they “lost control of him.” Police arrived and found the suspect trying to carjack someone at gunpoint.   • On February 6, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Juan Carlos Romero, a University of New Mexico graduate student, was found shot to death on the sidewalk across from the campus.   • On February 1, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a store clerk was critically injured in a confrontation during a theft at the store. When the suspect was confronted, a confrontation occurred resorting in the clerk receiving a gunshot wound.   • On January 18, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, officers were dispatched to apartments after receiving a call saying a man had possibly been shot in the face.   • On January 7, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man was killed by officers who suspected him of being responsible for armed robberies. Gilbert Lovato, 38 years old and his driver, Audrey Mapke, age 35, were averaging at least one armed holdup per day in recent weeks. Police caught up with them as they fled another robbery. There was an altercation that led to gunfire. Lovato was killed and Mapke, who was not harmed in the shooting, is facing 17 counts of armed robbery and 17 counts of conspiracy to commit robbery.   • On January 3, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a 46 year-old man was in custody after sheriff’s deputies said they believe he had shot and killed a 61 year-old man at a mobile home.   • On December 5 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Elijah Mascarenas, age 5, and Olivia Mascarenas, age 6, were shot and killed. Cheryl Mascarenas, 36 years old was shot and critically injured. Mascarenas’ ex-boy friend, George Daniel Wechsler, age 45, waited for the family to return home and then shot them all before shooting himself. He was taken to a hospital where he died.   • On November 19, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police officers responded to shots fired in a neighborhood. A man was found shot to death inside a home. No one has been arrested It is thought to be a robbery. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On November 9, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, officers were called to the student union building food court on the University of New Mexico campus because a man was there holding a 40 caliber Smith and Wesson gun. In his car, police found a loaded shotgun and a large amount of ammunition. The man was not a student.   • On November 6, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a game of beer pong ended in a shooting death. Angel Santana Martinez, 22 years old, was shot at a home near the University of New Mexico when a fight broke out at a party in the backyard.   • On October 25, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, four juveniles were charged in an armed robbery and chase that ended when they crashed into an off-duty police officer. According to a criminal complaint filed in metropolitan court, the five teenagers, ranging in age from 13 to 19, lured a male to a “known gang house.” Conrad Trujillo, 17, allegedly pointed a gun at the victim’s head, and the teenagers demanded the keys to his Toyota. The five teenagers were arrested and charged with kidnapping, aggravated battery, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and evading an officer. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On October 1, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sheriff’s deputies were fired upon during an encounter. Deputies say they encountered a suspicious person, later identified as 38 year-old Eric Pacheo. When they approached him, he fired multiple shots at the deputies. Pacheo then fled the scene on foot and entered a nearby structure. Swat and crisis negotiation teams were called in and took Pacheco into custody. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On September 3, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Benjamin Bruce Vigil, 31 years old, was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Michael Lucero, 39 years old, of Zia Pueblo.   • On August 29, 2016 on I-25 near Albuquerque, New Mexico, shots were fired in a suspect road rage incident. Carlos Gonzalez and Shirley Alvaredo were driving on I-25 when Fabian Romero drove up and cut him off. Romero allegedly pointed a handgun at Gonzalez and fired shots at the car. Romero was arrested by the Bernalillo County Sheriff deputies and is facing a number of charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. SOURCE: KOB4 NEWS
  • On August 28, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a mother and daughter were killed by an abusive husband in a murder suicide, police say. Can Thi To, age 39, and her 11 year-old daughter Nhi Nguyen were killed by her husband, Tran Trinh Vas, age 45. They had just arrived from Vietnam to start a new life. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On August 16, 2016 in Sandia Park, New Mexico, a burglar shot a family pet, a Great Dane. Officers were called to the home after a neighbor spotted two suspicious people. The dog, Moose, was in the house alone and was shot when the burglar broke into the home. He later died at the vet. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On August 16, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a shooting happened after an argument near Gun Club S.W. Angelica Herrera, age 27, and Adrian Anaya, 28, were driving around in Herrera’s car when a man with a gun confronted them.   • On August 10, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, two men were killed and two wounded in a shooting. Albuquerque police said two people were found dead inside the home.   • On August 9, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a homeowner shot and killed a 48 year-old man apparently in self-defensive. The suspect, 48 year-old Sebastian Thomas, broke into the home and attacked the homeowner with a bamboo stick and a hockey stick.   • On August 8, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Juan Carlos Saenz-Ponce, age 23 killed David Chumacero, 23 years old. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On July 29, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Derek Foote was accused of shooting at homes in an Albuquerque neighborhood. Dispatch got at least 21 calls about the shootings at homes.   • On July 23, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man was shot in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store. Kenneth Harrelson was shot in apparent self-defense after he held a knife at another man’s neck. Harrelson was booked on charges of aggravated burglary, and aggravated assault. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On July 16, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, officers were called about a shooting. A 16 year–old Albuquerque boy is facing a murder charge in the shooting death of his older sister. Officers found a 35 year-old woman with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. They also recovered a handgun on the counter. The suspect was standing in the front yard.   • On July 15, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, an Albuquerque security guard who was working at an apartment complex was shot. Albuquerque police identified the man as 46 year-old Stephen Wills.   • On July 3, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a 30 year-old man who was a suspect in an earlier shooting in the day barricaded himself inside a Rio Rancho home and shot himself. This happened after an hour-long standoff with swat officers, according to the police. The shooting earlier in the day left another man hospitalized.   • On May 29, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Aliyah Garcia, 18 years old, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting.
  • Aliyah was sitting in a car. Witnesses said they saw a car down the road turn off its headlights and heard at least 16 shots fired. Aliyah would have graduated from high school this month. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On May 27, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police are investigating the death of a 15 year–old boy who showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound. Officers were called to Kasena Hospital after the boy arrived and was later pronounced dead. Police say the death is still being investigated as a suspicious death and has not been ruled a homicide.   • On May 26, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 31 year-old Mario Montoya opened fire on law enforcement when they tried to arrest him. Police and U.S. Marshals fired back and Montoya was killed. Police had been tracking him since he took off from a halfway house in Albuquerque. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On May 26, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man was accused of pulling a gun in a road rage incident. The suspect, Michael Chavez, was then arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at another driver. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On May 23, 2016, in Albuquerque New Mexico, 34 year-old Gregory Gallegos was on the roof at a building and fired shots. He is being charged with negligent use of a firearm. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On May 22 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s office was called to an Albuquerque neighborhood. When the deputies arrived, 28 year-old Daniel Pacheco was pointing a firearm at someone in the front yard. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On May 20, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a seven-eleven store turned into a chaotic scene. Miguel Ortega, 37 years old, fired seventeen shots from a semi-automatic pistol after he got into a fight with another man. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On May 20, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man was shot by his 3 year-old. Justin Reynolds and his girlfriend left their kids in a motel room and left a gun out. The 3 year-old fired a shot that went through his dad’s back. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On May 19, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police arrested a 33 year-old Eugene Padilla, a convicted felon. He fired numerous rounds, hitting a male subject in the leg and almost hitting innocent bystanders. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On May 14, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, deputies investigated a possible shooting in southwest Albuquerque. A spokesperson with the sheriff’s office said a male was shot and transported to an area hospital. His injuries do not appear to be threatening. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On May 12, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a police unit was called to northeast Albuquerque where they found two bodies.   • On April 9, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a house party erupted in gunfire leaving four people injured, two critically.   • On April 1, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dung Nguyen shot and killed two brothers, Anpha Nguyen, 31 years-old, and Jerry Nguyen, 24 years-old in their Vietnamese restaurant. The brothers died at the scene. Their father, Mung Nguyen, was injured in the shooting and was taken to the hospital with non-threatening injuries.   • On March 15, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police responded to a fatal shooting. Police say a fight broke out between 57 year-old Max Martizen and 36 year-old Raul Juarez.   • On March 7, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Rueben Zepeda died from a gunshot wound. Police have arrested Karen Henderson in connection with the shooting.   • On February 23, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police officers were dispatched to a home where they found a man who had been shot in the back.   • On February 15, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Tyer Lackey, a veteran who served in Afghanistan, was shot to death. Police have identified the offenders, Matthew Chavez and Veronicle Trimble.According to the Albuquerque Police Department, there are active warrants for both. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On February 4, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police arrested Christopher Velasquez, who pulled a gun on the employees of a local business. He was angry because the business refused to refund his down payment on a motorcycle. Police say Velasquez went to his car to grab a rifle and pistol, and threatened to shoot employees and customers.   • On January 2, 2016, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Randy Mescale was accused of attempted murder during a firearm and marijuana buy. Albuquerque police say he shot a man multiple times at the Casa Bonita apartments. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On December 31, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, there was a shooting leaving one person dead and another in critical condition. No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.   • On December 30, 2015 Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police arrested a second suspect connected to a shooting over a drinking game (see below). Jack Trujillo confessed to shooting a 17 year-old boy at a party in South Valley area.  Another accused shooter, 18 year-old Esias Madrid, was arrested for killing Arturo Villa. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On December 27, 2015 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, 18 year-old Arturo Villa was shot and killed.  Two 17 year-olds were wounded when a party erupted in gunfire. Police believe the teens were at a party at a trailer park and a fight broke out and spilled onto the street where someone started shooting. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On December 22, 2015 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, an attempted car jacking turned deadly. Officers were responding to a 911 call about an attempted carjacking where the officers said the suspect was armed.  Shots were fired and the suspect was killed. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On December 15, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police investigated a possible drive-by shooting in Southeast Albuquerque. When the officers arrived they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her calf. It’s unclear if the victim was an intended target or if this was just a random drive-by shooting. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS 13
  • On December 13, 2015 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, the police found a man who had been shot lying in the street.  The man refused to tell the police what had happened. He was in critical but stable condition. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On December 11, 2015 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, 20 year-old Joshua Garcia was killed. Police have determined the shooting was the result of a drug deal. There were five boys involved and warrants have been obtained for them all. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On December 8, 2015, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, a mailman was shot at while he was driving a postal truck, barely missing him. The postal worker was delivering mail when a man driving a BMW accused the mailman of giving him a bad look and threatened him.   • On December 6, 2015, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, a gun battle erupted during a car break-in. Three people in ski masks approached the homeowner and started to break into one of his cars. He confronted them and a gun was shoved in his face.  The homeowner pulled out his own handgun and shot at the suspects. Later a body was dumped in front of University, New Mexico Hospital. The suspect survived.   • On October 21, 2015, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico  on Interstate 40, 4year-old Lily Garcia died after being shot in the head in what police called a road rage incident. The two cars were traveling westbound on I-40 when shots were fired from one vehicle to another. Tony Torrez, 32 years-old, was arrested and is charged with an open account of murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon shooting at or from a motor vehicle. SOURCE:  KOB4
  • On September 18, 2015 in Bernalillo, New Mexico, a fatal shooting occurred in the remote area of the East Mountains. When deputies arrived, they found 32 year-old Justin Butler shot to death. A woman was airlifted to a hospital with gun shot wounds. There was no vehicle found on the road.   • On June 18, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Angelo Martinez was shot to death at a Walmart parking lot. The shooter fled the scene. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS 13
  • On April 13, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man shot his 9-month pregnant girlfriend because she was having contractions and could not help him deliver flowers for his work. The baby is expected to survive. SOURCE: KOB.COM
  • On Sunday April 5, 2015 in Edgewood, New Mexico, the New Mexico state police shot and killed a man after a standoff that lasted many hours. The man barricaded himself in his vehicle with his firearms. When he threatened the officers with firearms, the police shot and killed him. SOURCE: THE NEW MEXICAN
  • On Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a toddler shot both his father and his father’s pregnant girlfriend in an Albuquerque Motel. The 9-millimeter handgun was unlocked and in the woman’s purse. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On Sunday February 1, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, four people were shot and killed and three were injured in four separate shootings across the city. Two of the incidents began with an argument in the victim’s home, which then escalated to gun violence. The third was a self-inflicted gunshot in a vehicle after a car crash.
