  • On January 27, 2018 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Alex Maestas, 26 years old, was taken into custody after an eight-hour SWAT standoff. Officers received a call that a woman had been beaten and strangled by her boyfriend. When officers attempted to speak with Maestas, he barricaded himself inside the residence with a firearm and refused to come out. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On January 11, 2018 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Manuel Moreno, age 16, and Rytzous Hawkins, age 22, and Diego Romano, age 22, were arrested by police on suspicion of armed robbery and assault. The 17-year-old victim, who sells clothing on line agreed to meet with Hawkins at a designated location to sell him shirts. He brought a friend with him. Hawkins got into the victim’s car. Two masked men told the victim and friend to get out of the car. One was armed with a rifle and the other a handgun. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On December 8, 2017 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, police are looking for a man in connection with an armed robbery. An unknown assailant approached two men getting out of their car and asked them for a cigarette. He pulled out a gun and shot the two victims who were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On November 27, 2017, in Santa Cruz, New Mexico, Tyrone R. Davis, age 37 of Pflugerville, Texas, entered a home and told the residents to lie down as he pointed a gun at them. He tied their hands behind their back and made off with $200 in cash and other valuables. On November 28, deputies arrested Davis at the Ohkay Casino. They also booked Chimayo residents, Carmela Morena, age 23 and Manuelita Salazar, age 48, as suspected accomplices. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On November 4, 2017 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Albert Laranaga, age 50, was charged with shooting from a moving vehicle, negligent use of a deadly weapon, and two counts of abusing or abandoning a child. He reportedly fired a 9 mm handgun from the passenger side of a vehicle. No one was reported injured and there were no reports of damage to property. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On October 10, 2017 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Ricardo Martinez, 27 years-old, was arrested on suspicion of robbing a New Jersey couple at gunpoint. He was a custodian assigned to clean City Hall and the Main Library. The armed robbery he’s accused of committing occurred just before his shift was over, according to a police report.   • On July 31, 2017, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a member of a biker gang was arrested in the shooting of a member of another gang. The two gangs have carried on a violent feud. There was so much tension from the shooting that police ordered a lock-down at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in case members of either gang showed up. SOURCE: THE NEW MEXICAN
  • On July 19, 2017, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Anthony Benavidez, age 24, was killed by gunshots fired by two SWAT team officers. Benavidez had broken into an apartment where he had been evicted a day earlier. He had stabbed a social worker who was trying to remove him from the apartment. Officers were negotiating with him over a loudspeaker. Benavidez threw two improvised explosive devices from the window directly at the officers. No one was hurt. Police decided to enter the apartment and arrest Benavidez. As they were trying to enter, the two SWAT team officers began firing shots. Benavidez was injured and died at the hospital.   • On June 17, 2017, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Chris Owens, age 30, a man with a criminal history, fired and killed Tim Baca. Earlier, Baca had befriended Owens. Owens is charged with murder, being a felon in possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEICAN
  • On June 13, 2017, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, State Land Commissioner, Aubrey Dunn, discovered a bullet had been fired through the windshield of his government pickup while parked at his home. Police found street signs and stop signs in the area that had been hit by bullets. No one was injured and it looked as though suspects were either firing randomly or shooting at signs.   • On May 21, 2017, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Robert Rodriguez, age 27, was handling a shotgun in an apartment when the weapon accidentally discharged and blew a gaping wound in the leg of his finance’s mother. Police found Renee Martinez, 45 years old, unconscious. She later lost her leg at the hospital. Rodriguez turned himself in and was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and negligent use of a deadly weapon. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On March 3, 2017 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Rio Arriba County sheriff, James Lujan, used a Taser to take down Tony Archuleta. Archuleta had been displaying a gun while walking near Highway 68. He made a “suicide by cop” threat by saying he would force Lujan to shoot him by pointing his gun at the sheriff. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On February 25, 2017 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Christian Orozco, 21 years old, broke into a home armed with a handgun. An amber alert was sounded and New Mexico state police and Espanola police found him after receiving a tip. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On December 22, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, an armed man stole a bank deposit bag containing $8,000 from a convenience store clerk. He then ordered the worker to give him a ride across town. This robbery at a Giant gas station is the third case in December in which business employees on their way to make a bank deposit have been targeted by armed suspects. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On December 20, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a robber stole $22,000 at gunpoint from a Santa Fe Place retail store worker. As she was walking to her car on her way to deposit the money for her employer, a masked man approached her, pulled out a handgun and took the deposit bag. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On December 19, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico Caleb Calandro, age 34, shot Samuel Dillon, age 28. Dillon is in critical but stable condition. Police believe the two men knew each other. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On December 17, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Santa Fe police investigated a downtown homicide. Rustin Radcliff, age 37, was shot and killed, and his body was found in a downtown parking lot. Police said the man’s death is being investigated as a homicide. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On December 13, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, authorities say they were looking for a shoplifting suspect who fired a gun at a Home Depot employee. No one was injured in the shooting, and the shot was a single round from a small semi automatic 22 caliber handgun. The man is wanted on charges of armed robbery, resisting, and evading an officer and negligent use of a deadly weapon.SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On November 28, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a man stole more than $3,800 from a Denny’s diner after he pulled a semi-automatic pistol from a pillowcase he was carrying. He threatened the restaurant manager’s life and demanded that he open the safe. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On November 25, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, after a three-hour incident, a man died from a self-inflicted gunshot. Santa Fe County sheriff’s office spokesman said deputies went to the area after someone called to report that a family member was “distraught” over a domestic issue and had left the house with a handgun.   • On October 27, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a man was robbed of $600 at gunpoint at Buffalo Thunder Casino. Santa Fe residents Andrea Garcia, 32, and Robert Garcia, 41, were arrested for the crime. They took his wallet and an envelope containing $600. Surveillance camera footage showed the robbery suspects. Deputies recognized them from previous arrests. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On October 25, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Santa Fe police began investigating two armed robberies over a two-day period at gas station convenience stores. The first robbery occurred at a Giant Gas station. Police say a masked man walked into the store and pulled out a handgun. The clerk gave him $60 and he ran away. The second robbery happened at Allsup’s, when again a gun was pulled and the robber got $43 and cigarettes. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On July 14, 2016, in Glorieta, New Mexico, a driver who Albuquerque police suspected was a fugitive facing sex crimes and domestic violence charges fatally shot himself. This ended a pursuit that began in Albuquerque and led to a stand off 70 miles north, closing a portion of I-25. When Albuquerque police officers approached the man, he rammed their cars and fled in his SUV. Officers tried negotiating with the driver. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On April 28, 2016, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, police say a man struck a store clerk on the head at a convenience store with a gun. Although the clerk was hit twice, he was not seriously injured and declined treatment. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On April 23, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Santa Fe Police arrested two teenage boys, ages 14 and 16, for assaulting a woman at gunpoint. The two males are also suspected of an armed robbery that took place several hours earlier. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On March 29, 2016 in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, an armed robber held up two people. The man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at two people, wanting all the money they had. The robber fled and law enforcement scoured the neighborhood to no avail. SOURCE: THE NEW MEXICAN
  • On February 16, 2016, in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, an armed robber pointed a rifle at a store clerk at the Latinos Unidos Market on Siler Road before taking off. Officers are looking for the suspect. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On February 1, 2016 in Santa Fe County , New Mexico, Herman Flores, a 31 year-old man, was killed by police. Flores matched the description of a suspect who had just held up a nearby Wal-Mart at gunpoint. Investigators say shots were fired. Flores died at the hospital. SOURCE: KRQE NEWS
  • On December 31, 2015 in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, a man from Santa Fe jumped into the car of a Colorado mother and daughter going to Espanola for a weekend. He held a gun to the driver’s head and ordered them to drive to a bank before getting out of the car and running away.   • On November 3, 2015 in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, a shooting took place at Buffalo Thunder Resort. No one was hurt in the shooting, which appears to have begun in the hotel’s parking lot and ended on a nearby bridge crossing at U.S. 84/285. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On November 2, 2015 in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, an 8 year-old boy was shot outside the Vista Del Rio Apartments during a drive-by shooting. Police arrested Aaron Archuleta, 27, after the shooting of the child, who was in stable condition. Archuleta drove to the apartment complex and fired 5 shots because his girlfriend got in a fist fight with another woman.  One of the shots hit the boy in the shoulder. Source: KRQE NEWS
  • On August 15, 2015 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Edwin Walters shot and killed 57 year-old Diego Sena. SOURCE: ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL
  • On August 13, 2015 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Santa Fe Police arrested 44 year-old Michael Collins after drugging and raping a women. The woman called 911 after locking herself in the bathroom. She was screaming that he had pointed a rifle at her face. Collins is being held on two counts of kidnapping, interference with evidence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.   • On August 25, 2015 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, 30 year-old Marvin Maestes was shot and killed after leading police on a 40-mile police chase and brandishing a firearm at officers. Maestes had a warrant out for his arrest for an officer involved shooting in Las Vegas. SOURCE: SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
  • On August 23, 2015 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, police arrested 23 year-old Jonathan Tapia for firing a gun in a home after locking up a woman and her 2 year-old child.   • On October 24, 2014 in Santa Fe, 13 year-old Ana Marie Ojeda and her 18 year-old boyfriend were found shot to death in a parked car in a sub-division of Santa Fe. SOURCE: KRQE
  • In January of 2012, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Arthur Anaya shot and killed 16 year-old Austin Urban and 51 year-old Theresa Vigil in front of her 16 year-old daughter. The argument began over $100 in late rent. SOURCE: THE SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN
