  • On July 21, 2022 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man suffering from a mental health crisis was shot and killed by police at the Core Vistas in the Seven Bar Ranch apartments near Coors and Alameda NW. The man had been assisted by a specialized mental health task force the day prior and was not considered a threat to himself or others. However, police at the scene of the shooting claim he assaulted and possibly shot his wife before aiming his gun at others. It began when Micheal Anthony Koester (25) forcibly removed a teenage boy from his girlfriend’s apartment upon discovering him and several other teens nude in the home. The teen called his family to the scene, reportedly telling them to “bring their straps (guns)”. He stressed the persistent issue of gun violence and the presence of firearms among youth and within educational buildings. APS Chief of Police Steve Gallegos shared that across Albuquerque’s 13 public high schools, 10 guns were confiscated over this past academic year. Moreover, two teenagers (Bennie Hargrove, 13, and Andrew Burson, 16) both lost their lives to firearms on or near school campuses. Elder voiced his fears that the issue will only worsen, stating, “This was an incredibly difficult year…The reality of what’s going on is in the community. This is not a school problem.   • On July 12, 2022 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, within only half an hour and two miles of distance, two women were shot and killed in separate incidents. The first occurred around 9:45 p.m. near Bell and San Pablo SE where officers responding to reports of a shooting. They discovered the body of a woman who had succumbed to a gunshot wound. The second call came in at 10:05 p.m. where a woman was seen slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle near Grand and San Mateo SE. Upon further inspection, it was discovered that she had died from multiple gunshot wounds. The witness claimed he called 911 as a victim asked for help, stating, “There was a little young teenage girl in the front of my driveway bleeding, holding her chest. The Albuquerque Hawks and New Mexico Heat were playing at the West Side Baseball Field, when an umpire heard a bullet whiz past his head and landed near the feet of one of the team’s coaches. As police arrived at the scene, they apprehended two teens (16 and 17 years old) who were fleeing the scene in a vehicle.   • On April 6, 2022 on I-25 between Santo Domingo and San Felipe pueblos, a couple heading southbound were struck and injured by gunfire. Patrick and Jennifer (Lopez) Martinez’s vehicle was struck multiple times. Martinez was found with multiple shotgun pellets lodged in his head and torso, while Lopez-Martinez inhaled glass particles and was struck in the ear by a single pellet. The Martinez’s, who have suffered lasting physical and mental difficulties since the incident, are filing a lawsuit against the State Police and Public Safety Department for negligence because law enforcement failed to notify the public of the 20 or so shootings reported in the area since January. The FBI has identified 37-year-old Byron Rosetta as the likely suspect of these shootings directed at random drivers on the interstate. A 17-year-old girl and her friend were driving around the downtown area when the teens ex-boyfriend, Christopher Herrera (18), appeared and pointed a gun at her head saying, “Do you think I am joking?” before leaving the area. A few hours later, the girl’s mother called the teens that Herrera was outside of their home shooting a rifle while three children slept inside. When the girls arrived at the home, Herrera threatened to shoot her and forced her into his car at gunpoint. Herrera and the teen were found at an apartment in Northeast Albuquerque that morning.   • On November 26, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man was shot and killed by police following a hit-and-run incident. Police responded to a call around 2 p.m. about an accident on Edith and Montaño where one driver had fled the scene. A vehicle matching the description from the first accident was found crashed onto a property on Edith and Nikanda. As deputies approached the driver, he exited the vehicle with a rifle aimed at the officers.   • On November 24, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Joshua Butler (29) was charged for the murder of Nelson Gallegos on the man’s 57th birthday. The crime occurred last month, on October 6th, in the Old Town Center of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Butler shot Gallegos while the victim was taking his grandson to school.   • On November 16, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a suspect was finally identified and apprehended for an Albuquerque carjacking that occurred in July. Darion Romero approached a pregnant woman and her three children at their truck in a Walmart parking lot. He proceeded to threaten her with a handgun and climbed into the vehicle. The victim yelled to her children to jump out of the truck, which they were able to do before he drove away. Xavier Martinez (22) was arrested after being identified as the perpetrator of the crime. Witnesses claimed that Martinez stated, “What are you looking at, dog?” before shooting her in the leg. Lynch made a verbal exclamation, to which Martinez responded by shooting him in the head before taking off on a moped. Lynch was left in the street, his injuries leaving him brain dead. Padilla abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee but was apprehended. He turned a knife over to police before fleeing on foot across Menaul and into a residential area where he revealed a gun. The man was panhandling when he was shot in the face by Isaiah Luna (21) just before 10 am. Luna fired from his vehicle. In his statement, he claimed Hart asked him for money and began hitting him when Luna refused to give him the money. Witness testimony and video evidence suggest these claims are untrue.   • On August 20, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, an armed carjacker was shot and injured by police. David Martinez (26) rushed the driver of a red pick-up truck headed northbound on Broadway Blvd near Anderson St., aiming an assault rifle at the driver while attempting to enter the vehicle from the passenger side. Martinez was fleeing arrest on foot for a parole violation and homicide investigation, officers fired at and shot the suspect as they caught up with him while he tried to force himself into the vehicle.   • On August 18, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man was shot six times in a friend’s home near Menaul and 12th. The victim claims the violence occurred due to a misunderstanding between himself and Myzel Hayes (32) after a day of heavy drinking. Allegedly, the victim was blackout drunk and mistakenly entered Hayes’ child’s bedroom rather than the bathroom. Hayes opened fire and unloaded all of the bullets in the chamber into the victim who had exposed himself to the child.   • On August 16, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Roderick Thompson was shot in the head and killed at a gas station on Indian School NE and San Mateo. Security footage showed two men pull up to Thompson near the gas pump after his wife entered the store to pay. Darien Mells (20) is seen pulling a pistol from his waist and firing at Thompson twice, who first lunges at Mells, but falls to the ground following the second shot. Martin struck his girlfriend, her sister, and sister’s boyfriend (Shaquan Ketchum, 20) with the blunt end of his handgun multiple times. Others were injured with the gun as well  as they tried to intercept the attacks. Authorities arrested Richard Kuykendell who dropped the bullet riddled car at a Northeast hospital. The three dead men were members of the Aryan Brotherhood gang as is Kuykendell. Montoya and Jesse James Bowers, age 25, have been charged with murder. Cody Fair and his girlfriend were leaving their neighborhood when an SUV driven by Montoya pulled up next to them. It happened after a chase, which started when deputies were called to Central New Mexico Community college-S Valley campus.   • On February 19, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Xiao Gong was driving her daughter to the Albuquerque airport, when her estranged husband, Qian Ming, 66 years old, intentionally crashed his car into Gong’s truck. After the wreck, Ming ran towards the two women and fired into the car, striking the daughter in the shoulder. A National Guardsman on the scene pointed his weapon at Ming and told him to stop. Police say he feared for his safety and shot and killed Ming. Police say he prevented a double murder. The National Guardsman was an Uber driver and had served in the National Guard for 12 years.   • On February 16, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Isaiah Marquez, age 25, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated burglary, conspiracy and tampering with evidence. Juan Perdomo, age 20, his accomplice in a home invasion, was pronounced dead at a hospital after being shot three times by the homeowner. The third suspect, Filberto Romero Jr. is still on the run.   • On February 15, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Vine Deloria, 45 years old, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.   • On February 12, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Michael Pelkey, age 62, was shot and killed at a gas station. New Mexico police officers investigating the case said an armed robber, wearing a bandanna over his face and carrying a semi-automatic weapon, entered the station and demanded money. The robbery was calculated, planned and executed by six people.   • On January 7, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Daniel Arreolla Saavedra, 24 years old, was shot and killed when at least one officer opened fire after responding to a residential burglary call in the Luna Lodge, an apartment complex. His father said he broke into the unit because he was cold. According to officers, he jumped out of a closet armed with a knife and a metal pipe. Four officers fired at him.   • On January 6, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, reports came in of a man armed with an AK-47 rifle who was threatening neighbors. He ran into the house and refused to obey orders.   • On January 5, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Chelsea Parkett, 28 years old, was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, Jerrold Ramone, age 28. Witnesses told detectives Ramone fired at Parkett several times from his car. He then got out of the car and continued to shoot her until she fell to the ground.   • On January 3, 2018 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a shooting occurred which left a woman dead and a man injured. Police responded after a man called the police saying he had been shot. When police arrived, they found a man shot outside of the home. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.   • On December 26, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, VanKevin Chopito, 21 years old, shot and injured security guards in the parking of a drug store. Security guards, Grovanni Quinones was shot in the face and Levi Marquez was shot in the leg with shotgun pellets.   • On December 23, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Edward Ortega-Landros, 24 years old, was killed after he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, while armed. Her new boyfriend, whose name was not released and is in custody and cooperating with the police, shot him.   • On December 11, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mylin Bill, 16 years old, was arrested for shooting a 16-year-old in front of a downtown movie theater. The boy was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. The shooting was not random, as the victim and suspect knew each other.   • On November 27, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jimmy Howell, age 26, was killed at an apartment complex near Kirtland Air Force Base. Howell was a former airman at Kirtland. He was apparently on his way home after meeting a friend when he was shot several times. Investigators are still looking for clues as to why Howell may have been targeted.   • On November 26, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Donaldo Yanez, age 17, was shot and killed along with his friend who was also shot. Yanez died later at the hospital.   • On November 17, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Isaac Padilla, 23 years old, and Martin Jim, 25 years old, were killed by Bernalillo county deputy Joshua Mora. The incident started when the BCSO helicopter spotted a white pickup truck that had been reported stolen. Mora said he feared for the safety of his colleagues after the suspect revved the engine after being cornered, so he fired shots. Padilla and Jim were found dead in the truck. Two people exited the vehicle safely and were taken into custody. Two deputies have been placed on standard administrative leave. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On November 10, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matthew Scudero, age 50, was shot and killed by Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies. Deputies had been called to his mobile home that morning by his father who told them Scudero had pointed a gun at him. When the deputies arrived Scudero began shooting at them. The BCSO SWAT team and the New Mexico State Police Swat team were called in to try and negotiate. Upon entering the home, they found Scudero dead from multiple gunshot wounds.   • On November 5, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rodney Tenoria, age 36, was shot and critically injured by Sargent Jason Foster. Deputies say he beat his girlfriend, stabbed a man in the arm, and then sped up and down a residential street, running over a man who tried to intervene. Deputies said Tenorio was about to stab the same man again

  • On November 3, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Eugene “Junior” Basturto, age 44, shot himself inside the Bank of America call center during negotiations with police. He had worked at the call center. Family members said he went into the call center and told his boss to evacuate the building. Basturto had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and associated depression.   • On October 28, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Steve Kramer, age 42 years-old, was booked into jail and charged with the murder of Vincent Gutierrez. This happened at an office that Stella Padilla used during her campaign for mayor. Dinah Vargas had returned to the office to pack up some belongs. Kramer, Vargas’ colleague also arrived at the office and, according to Vargas, was acting very strange. Gutierrez arrived at the office, as some of the furniture was going to him since the office was being closed.   • On October 26, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, David Fajardo, 31 years-old, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say Fajardo threatened three people, including a 7-year-old, with an automatic pistol over a parking space at a restaurant. Police say Fajardo threatened to shoot all of them.   • On October 7, 2017, in Bernalillo County, a sheriff says his department has launched an internal investigation after one of its deputies pulled a gun on a motorcyclist who was part of a large group driving recklessly through Albuquerque. A video shows the motorcyclist doing a wheelie next to a patrol car. Authorities say the pack of motorcyclists numbered about 50 and at times was bucking traffic and riding dangerously.   • On October 6, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Israfil Madriaga, age 20, was arrested and charged with assault with great bodily harm and armed robbery with a deadly weapon. Madriaga walked into a Chevron station and pulled a gun on the clerk, Robert Stubblefield. When Stubblefield tried to fight, deputies say Madriaga shot him once and took the money.   • On October 6, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police were called to a Circle K gas station for an armed robbery that turned into a shooting. When they arrived at the store, they were told a man had robbed it at gunpoint and then tried to drive away. The assistant manager tried to take a picture of the vehicle the suspect was fleeing in. The suspect fired multiple rounds in the direction of the assistant manager who was hit numerous times in the leg. A man who was filling up his car at the gas pump was struck in the neck.   • On October 5, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police say they were returning fire when they shot and injured a domestic violence suspect. A woman ran to her neighbor’s house and asked them to call 911, saying that her 32-year-old boyfriend had beaten her up. The woman said her boyfriend had a gun and was drunk. The police arrived and told him to drop the gun but he did not. The suspect began firing at the officers who returned fire, with the suspect being shot in the chest.   • On September 12, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Randall Parker, age 26, stole an Albuquerque Police Department car. Detectives followed the car as it stopped at an apartment complex. Lorenzo Garcia, age 27, began following Parker. Parker then jumped into Garcia’s car and one of them fired four gunshots at the officer’s vehicle.   • On July 28, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a suspect is dead after a one-man crime wave. The incident started when deputies were called by the Isleta Police Department to help them catch a man trying to steal golf carts from a course. The suspect then broke into a house, took the two homeowners hostage, and fled in their car. Deputies stopped the car and ordered the suspects to surrender. A group of citizens used a pair of toy handcuffs and pepper spray to the face to stop Holliday, a convicted felon who threatened them with a sawed-off shotgun.   • On July 12, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Maximiliano Villegas opened fire on officers, shooting and injuring one of them. Police had responded to a 911 call made by his girlfriend, saying Villegas had pushed her around and was threatening to kill himself. Officers called the SWAT team for assistance.   • On July 4, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bernalillo County deputies fatally shot Miguel Gonzalez, age 28. Gonzalez was shot on a patio behind a house owned by his former father-in-law. The sheriff said the shooting ended a vehicle and foot chase that began at a carwash.   • On June 28, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Morgan Quarles III, age 22, and Gabriel Mariscal, age 30, arrived at a house and pushed their way inside. Mariscal pulled out a gun and demanded the keys from the woman and followed the man who lived there into a bedroom. Witnesses told police there were signs of a struggle in the bedroom followed by gunfire. Mariscal shot the woman who died at the scene. The wounded man was in critical condition.   • On June 23, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, two months after a man’s body was found in the East Mountains, detectives arrested an Albuquerque couple connected to his death. Terry Williams, age 56, was reported missing on April 26, 2017. It is believed that Craig Smith, age 54, and his girlfriend, Evanne Jaramillo, age 39, shot Williams because the bullets in his body matched bullets that were found in Smith’s truck.   • On March 22, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Robert Billie, age 38, was arrested and charged with 71 counts of armed robbery and 37 counts of conspiracy. The alleged series of crimes ended after detectives surveilling Billie watched him rob a Jack-in- the-Box. He then drove to a motel where police surrounded his room and ordered Billie and his wife to come out. Billie came out, pointed a gun at the police officers, got into his vehicle and fled.   • On February 10, 2017, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police shot a man who attempted a carjacking at gunpoint in front of officers. Albuquerque police spokesman said a bonding company that was serving arrest warrants on a suspect called the police for help after they “lost control of him.” Police arrived and found the suspect trying to carjack someone at gunpoint. There was an altercation that led to gunfire. Lovato was killed and Mapke, who was not harmed in the shooting, is facing 17 counts of armed robbery and 17 counts of conspiracy to commit robbery. According to a criminal complaint filed in metropolitan court, the five teenagers, ranging in age from 13 to 19, lured a male to a “known gang house.” Conrad Trujillo, 17, allegedly pointed a gun at the victim’s head, and the teenagers demanded the keys to his Toyota. Deputies say they encountered a suspicious person, later identified as 38 year-old Eric Pacheo. When they approached him, he fired multiple shots at the deputies.   • On August 29, 2016 on I-25 near Albuquerque, New Mexico, shots were fired in a suspect road rage incident. Carlos Gonzalez and Shirley Alvaredo were driving on I-25 when Fabian Romero drove up and cut him off. Romero allegedly pointed a handgun at Gonzalez and fired shots at the car.   • On May 20, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man was shot by his 3 year-old. Justin Reynolds and his girlfriend left their kids in a motel room and left a gun out. The 3 year-old fired a shot that went through his dad’s back. Source: KRQE News
  • On May 19, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police arrested a 33 year-old Eugene Padilla, a convicted felon. He fired numerous rounds, hitting a male subject in the leg and almost hitting innocent bystanders. Source: KRQE News
  • On May 14, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, deputies investigated a possible shooting in southwest Albuquerque. A spokesperson with the sheriff’s office said a male was shot and transported to an area hospital. His injuries do not appear to be threatening. Source: KRQE News
  • On May 12, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a police unit was called to northeast Albuquerque where they found two bodies. They were identified a 31 year-old Joe Baca and his 29 year-old brother, Carlos Baca Jr. The incident is being investigated as a double homicide. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On April 15, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police investigated the death of a man shot in an apartment. The police arrived at the apartment complex and found the man dead from apparent gunshot wounds. It is considered an active homicide investigation. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On April 9, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a house party erupted in gunfire leaving four people injured, two critically. One of the residents of the house, 19 year-old Tristen Whitmire, was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On April 9, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, there was a double shooting at a motel. Michael Herrera, a 30 year-old, was shot and killed, and a 35 year-old man was shot and injured. The police are searching for a suspect. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On April 1, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dung Nguyen shot and killed two brothers, Anpha Nguyen, 31 years-old, and Jerry Nguyen, 24 years-old in their Vietnamese restaurant. The brothers died at the scene. Their father, Mung Nguyen, was injured in the shooting and was taken to the hospital with non-threatening injuries. Dung Nguyen, who was the uncle of the two men, shot and killed himself a short time later when officers tried to pull his car over. Source: KRQE News
  • On March 15, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police responded to a fatal shooting. Police say a fight broke out between 57 year-old Max Martizen and 36 year-old Raul Juarez. When police arrived, they found Juarez dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Martinez was taken into custody. Source: KRQE News
  • On March 7, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Rueben Zepeda died from a gunshot wound. Police have arrested Karen Henderson in connection with the shooting. Henderson admitted she had two shotguns and a handgun in her apartment. A background check showed she had prior felony convictions. Source: KRQE News
  • On March 5, 2016, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Albuquerque Police investigated a fatal shooting at an apartment complex. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have brought in one person for questioning. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On February 23, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police officers were dispatched to a home where they found a man who had been shot in the back. Police say the man was at a party when he was shot. The victim was taken to a local hospital, and is expected to survive. Detectives are investigating but have not identified any suspects.   • On February 15, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Tyer Lackey, a veteran who served in Afghanistan, was shot to death. Police have identified the offenders, Matthew Chavez and Veronica Trimble. According to the Albuquerque Police Department, there are active warrants for both. Source: KRQE News
  • On February 4, 2016 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police arrested Christopher Velasquez, who pulled a gun on the employees of a local business. He was angry because the business refused to refund his down payment on a motorcycle. Police say Velasquez went to his car to grab a rifle and pistol, and threatened to shoot employees and customers. Velasquez is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Source: KRQE News
  • On January 2, 2016, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Randy Mescale was accused of attempted murder during a firearm and marijuana buy. Albuquerque police say he shot a man multiple times at the Casa Bonita apartments. Source: KRQE News
  • On December 31, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, there was a shooting leaving one person dead and another in critical condition. No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Gunshots were reportedly heard around midnight as fireworks were going off on New Year’s Eve. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On December 30, 2015 Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police arrested a second suspect connected to a shooting over a drinking game (see below). Jack Trujillo confessed to shooting a 17 year-old boy at a party in South Valley area.  Another accused shooter, 18 year-old Esias Madrid, was arrested for killing Arturo Villa. Source: KRQE News
  • On December 27, 2015 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, 18 year-old Arturo Villa was shot and killed.  Two 17 year-olds were wounded when a party erupted in gunfire. Police believe the teens were at a party at a trailer park and a fight broke out and spilled onto the street where someone started shooting. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On December 22, 2015 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, an attempted carjacking turned deadly. Officers were responding to a 911 call about an attempted carjacking where the officers said the suspect was armed.  Shots were fired and the suspect was killed. Source: KRQE News
  • On December 15, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, police investigated a possible drive-by shooting in Southeast Albuquerque. When the officers arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her calf. It’s unclear if the victim was an intended target or if this was just a random drive-by shooting. Source: KRQE News 13
  • On December 13, 2015 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, the police found a man who had been shot lying in the street.  The man refused to tell the police what had happened. He was in critical but stable condition. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On December 11, 2015 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, 20 year-old Joshua Garcia was killed. Police have determined the shooting was the result of a drug deal. There were five boys involved and warrants have been obtained for them all. Source: KRQE News
  • On December 8, 2015, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, a mailman was shot at while he was driving a postal truck, barely missing him. The postal worker was delivering mail when a man driving a BMW accused the mailman of giving him a bad look and threatened him. The mailman heard about 6 shots fired at his truck but he was not hurt. Source: KRQE News
  • On December 6, 2015, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, a gun battle erupted during a car break-in. Three people in ski masks approached the homeowner and started to break into one of his cars. He confronted them and a gun was shoved in his face.  The homeowner pulled out his own handgun and shot at the suspects. Later a body was dumped in front of University, New Mexico Hospital. The suspect survived.   • On October 21, 2015, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico  on Interstate 40, 4year-old Lily Garcia died after being shot in the head in what police called a road rage incident. The two cars were traveling westbound on I-40 when shots were fired from one vehicle to another. Tony Torrez, 32 years-old, was arrested and is charged with an open account of murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon shooting at or from a motor vehicle. Source: KOB4
  • On September 18, 2015 in Bernalillo, New Mexico, a fatal shooting occurred in a remote area in the East Mountains. When deputies arrived, they found 32 year-old Justin Butler shot to death. A woman was airlifted to a hospital with gunshot wounds. There was no vehicle found on the road. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On June 18, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Angelo Martinez was shot to death at a Walmart parking lot. The shooter fled the scene. Source: KRQE News 13
  • On April 13, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man shot his 9-month pregnant girlfriend because she was having contractions and could not help him deliver flowers for his work. The baby is expected to survive. Source: KOB.com
  • On Sunday April 5, 2015 in Edgewood, New Mexico, the New Mexico state police shot and killed a man after a standoff that lasted many hours. The man barricaded himself in his vehicle with his firearms. When he threatened the officers with firearms, the police shot and killed him. Source: The New Mexican
  • On Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a toddler shot both his father and his father’s pregnant girlfriend in an Albuquerque Motel. The 9-millimeter handgun was unlocked and in the woman’s purse. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On Sunday February 1, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, four people were shot and killed and three were injured in four separate shootings across the city. Two of the incidents began with an argument in the victim’s home, which then escalated to gun violence. The third was a self-inflicted gunshot in a vehicle after a car crash.   • February 11, 2015 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 56 year-old Leonard Gabaldon killed himself and his 7 year-old daughter, Viktoria, with a gun in an apparent murder-suicide. Source: KRQE
  • On March 30, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at a local shooting range, an 18 year-old man rented a gun and shot and killed himself. A suicide note was found in his wallet. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On January 1, 2013 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 15 year-old Nehemiah Griego shot and killed 5 family members. Victims included his 9-, 5-, and 2-year-old siblings. He will be tried as an adult. Source: NBC News
  • On March 22, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico 17 year-old Jacquise Lewis as shot and killed at the Los Altos Skate Park. Source: KOAT 7 News
  • On June 26, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a 17 year-old was shot and killed by a bullet that went through the window of a home. He was shot in the neck while watching his friends play cards. Source: Albuquerque Journal
  • On July 28, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 14 year-old Isaiah Albright was shot and killed by a drive-by shooter at Pat Hurley Park. Two other teens were injured. Source: KOAT 7 News
