De Baca County Gun Violence

  • On April 21, 2019, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Jared Pendleton, age 34, threatened his own life while holding four family members hostage. The incident started when gunshots were heard. A SWAT team surrounded the house until Pendleton came out. There were no injuries reported. Source: News – Sun
  • On April 1, 2019, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Albino A. Mendez-Solis, age 30, shot and killed Wilson M. Caldwell, age 26. His body was found about 50 miles from the main road. Source: News West
  • On March 11, 2018, in Roswell, New Mexico, Andy Lucero, who was wanted for attempted murder, was killed in a shooting with police. No officers were injured in the incident. Source: De Baca County Sheriff Report
  • On February 11, 2018, Ishaih Ulibarri was captured and one weapon confiscated. Alleged thefts by Ulibari were carried out while he had a high-powered military assault rifle in his possession. There is no documentation that he fired these weapons. Ulibarri had an active warrant for his arrest for four felonies, two misdemeanors and two petty misdemeanors.
