NMPGV April 2018 Pledge Member Update

Your NMPGV membership has considerable impact on reducing gun violence in our state. I’m sure you’re aware of our “Guns to Gardens” Gun Buyback Program, which takes hundreds of unwanted, working firearms out of our communities.

This program continues to receive acclaim for its impact! If you haven’t had a chance yet, consider visiting the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology in Albuquerque for their new exhibit: Gun Violence: a Brief Cultural History. NMPGV garden tools that have been fashioned from discarded guns from our Guns to Gardens program are on display at the museum.

The exhibit has garnered international press, including this article, in which Miranda Viscoli, Executive Director of NMPGV explains:

In addition to our student programs and guns to gardens, NMPGV is committed to strengthening our laws to reduce gun violence and educating the public on the magnitude of the problem, effects, causes, and prevention of violence. Please consider becoming an NMPGV member, we can’t reduce gun violence in New Mexico without your help. Your membership supports the continued impact of these valuable programs and other events and programming throughout the state each year.

We have membership levels that fit every budget. And this year, each membership level includes NMPGV swag just in time for the holiday season – including one of our garden tools crafted from a firearm purchased through our buyback program!

Together, we are making progress toward making New Mexico safer for our families.
